A red Ford SUV crashed into His and Hers Hair Studio in West Elmira on Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 3:20 p.m. on May 19 at the shopping plaza located at the corner of West Water Street and York Avenue. Witnesses reported to 18 News that the SUV crossed oncoming traffic on West Water Street before hitting the building.
The driver was transported from the scene in an ambulance. There were no other reported injuries, and the hair studio was closed at the time of the crash.
The collision shattered the large front window of the studio, scattering glass around the area. A garden box in front of the window was destroyed, and the front of the SUV was significantly damaged.
The West Elmira Police Department, Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, West Elmira Fire Department, Elmira Fire Department, and Erway Ambulance responded to the scene.
