Successful Hair Donation Event Benefits Wigs for Kids in Grover Beach

by Madonna

Grover Beach recently saw a successful event where haircuts did more than just enhance appearances—they supported a noble cause.

Mariah Eaves, owner of Bare Heart Boudoir in San Luis Obispo, has been donating her hair for nearly 20 years. This time, she aimed to make a bigger impact by rallying community support.

“My hair grows quickly, so I keep donating,” Eaves shared. “This time, I wanted to do something significant.”

Teaming up with Natalie Ozzimo from Bellizzimo Beauty, Eaves facilitated eight individuals receiving free haircuts at Seaglass Salon. These participants donated their hair to create wigs for children experiencing medical hair loss.

“It’s been an exciting experience to learn and contribute,” Ozzimo remarked. “We hope to continue this effort.”

Eaves and Wigs for Kids estimate that each wig costs around $2,000, benefiting children annually until they turn 18.

For Ozzimo, the cause holds personal significance due to her own family’s experiences with cancer-related hair loss.

“Having three kids and a mother who went through hair loss during cancer treatment, I understand the importance of wigs,” Ozzimo explained.

Knowing that their donations contribute to children’s confidence during challenging times is immensely gratifying for both Eaves and Ozzimo.

“After my last donation, I received an email six months later,” Eaves recalled. “The cover showed a little redheaded girl, and I could swear it was made using my hair!”

This event not only showcased community generosity but also highlighted the profound impact small acts of kindness can have on those in need.
