In 2014, Andi Palmar and her daughter, Lauren Gerami, established Operation: Beautiful to support individuals experiencing medically-related hair loss. The organization provides a comprehensive range of services, including wigs, monthly meetups, spa treatments, house cleaning, meals, counseling, yoga classes, and essential oils, all aimed at promoting overall well-being during challenging health journeys.
On October 12, Operation: Beautiful will host a Gatsby-themed gala fundraiser at the Richland Firehall. The event will feature several speakers, including women who have benefited from the program.
“We’re hoping to raise enough money to cover our annual budget this year,” Gerami said. “Every dollar goes directly to services for women, whether that’s purchasing wigs or providing additional support to help them regain a sense of normalcy during treatment.”
While Operation: Beautiful primarily serves women in Cambria and Somerset counties, Palmar noted that the program is open to anyone willing to travel to the area. She also mentioned that additional fundraisers are planned throughout the year.
“Providing wigs is just the first step,” Palmar explained. “Our additional products and services address the diverse needs and desires of these women.”
