At Nicholas and Rodah Hair Design in Salem, New Hampshire, customers are treated like family. During a recent visit, Will Beaucher experienced this first-hand while sitting in Nick Taweel’s chair. It was his first appointment, but he felt compelled to share the unique atmosphere of the salon with Chronicle viewers.
“I looked up and saw a painting of an eagle with a flag. I noticed the other artworks and thought, ‘Whoa, this is really special,’” Beaucher recalled.
Taweel, originally from Syria, has a talent for bringing canvases to life with scenes of wildlife, cityscapes, and nature. Each piece he creates tells a unique story. Before opening the salon with his wife, Rodah, Taweel left a career in civil engineering and worked three jobs for over a decade.
For him, both hair and art are deeply personal. Reactions vary; while some people love his work, others are indifferent. Yet, for Taweel, the focus remains on sharing his vision and joy. His art reflects a diverse journey, capturing everything from serene coastal vistas to bustling urban life.
