Besiktas is currently grappling with a significant sports crisis following a disappointing 3-1 home loss to Fenerbahçe in the Istanbul derby. In response, the club’s new board has taken swift action, suspending five key players: Eric Bailly, Vicent Aboubakar, Jean Onana, Valentin Rosier, and Rachid Ghezzal.
However, it is the case of Vicent Aboubakar that has raised eyebrows due to a series of surprising events. According to reports from the Turkish outlet Fanatik, the former Porto striker’s suspension stems from a series of unauthorized trips to Paris. Aboubakar reportedly traveled to the French capital three times without the club’s permission.
The situation took a curious turn during the international break when Aboubakar flew to Cameroon to join the national team, only to later head to Paris, citing his wife’s illness as the reason for his absence. However, sources suggest that the real motive behind the trip was not family concerns, but rather a visit to undergo a hair transplant procedure, a common practice in Turkey, which is known for its thriving hair restoration industry.
Upon returning to Istanbul, Aboubakar initially claimed to be injured and began individual training sessions away from the main squad. He later missed the match, raising further suspicions. The real reason behind his absence from the team was revealed when it emerged that doctors had advised the 31-year-old striker to avoid heading the ball for a period of three weeks to ensure the transplant’s success.
Despite the controversy surrounding the situation, it is reported that Besiktas may consider offering Aboubakar an apology, suggesting the club could take a more lenient stance after the incident.
