BBC Radio 1 DJ Dean McCullough, 32, has been celebrating his impressive hair transformation after undergoing a hair transplant earlier this year. The DJ, known for his infectious personality, documented the procedure on TikTok, offering fans a glimpse into the process that led to his dramatic glow-up.
Back in April, McCullough visited KSL Clinics in Manchester for a FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) hair transplant. The procedure, which took several hours, left McCullough with a swollen face, which he humorously pointed out in a TikTok video. “I didn’t realise when you get a hair transplant, you get new cheekbones as well,” he joked, before adding, “You can nearly balance a plant pot on them cheekbones.” McCullough went on to describe himself as “Shrek’s wee cousin,” poking fun at his temporary appearance.
Two weeks after the transplant, McCullough was able to wash his hair and eagerly shared his results with followers on social media. He flaunted his newly restored hairline and bouncy curls, marking a major milestone in his recovery. McCullough had been following a strict aftercare plan designed by the clinic to ensure the best results.
In July, the star, best known for his appearance on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, shared a post about his Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment, a key part of his aftercare. “Come with me to get PRP after my hair transplant @ksl_clinics. I had a FUE hair transplant 3 months ago and I’m buzzing with the results so far,” he wrote. PRP involves injecting a patient’s own platelets into targeted areas to accelerate healing and promote hair regrowth, and has gained popularity for its benefits in treating hair loss.
By September, McCullough was proudly showing off the results of his hair transplant, stating, “5 months post-hair transplant and I can’t believe these results. I’ve been following my aftercare plan, taking biotin, using 100% natural hair oils, and having PRP to give my transplant the best chance of success. I wasn’t expecting this growth until around Jan/Feb time.” The transformation has exceeded his expectations, and he’s now confident that his hairline is better than ever.
Alongside his hair transformation, McCullough has been stirring up excitement on I’m a Celebrity as he faces challenges in the jungle. He has been nominated more than any other contestant to compete in the Bushtucker Trials. However, his performance in the trials has been less than stellar, with the DJ securing minimal stars for his camp, leaving his fellow contestants to endure the hardship of bland rice and beans.
In the latest episode, McCullough teamed up with McFly’s Danny Jones for the “High Street Of Horrors” Bushtucker Trial. The pair managed to collect eight stars, much to the delight of viewers. The episode also saw McCullough join TV personality Maura Higgins and writer Reverend Richard Coles in the luxurious Jungle Junkyard, where further twists and surprises kept the audience engaged.
Despite his ups and downs in the jungle, McCullough’s hair journey remains a triumph, with his followers eagerly awaiting his next updates on both his hair and his adventures in the celebrity camp.
