Diffar, a new Japanese hair fragrance oil brand, is making a name for itself with all-natural products crafted at the foot of Mount Fuji. Founded by 38-year-old Makoto Arii, the brand’s name reflects the idea that “different experiences take you far,” with each fragrance offering a unique, evolving scent experience.
Created in collaboration with Tokyo’s Scent salon, Diffar’s oils combine essential oils and plant extracts like argan, jojoba, and evening primrose oils, along with shea butter and UV-protecting rice oil to nourish and fragrance the hair. The debut collection features six scents: Tokyo Balance, Woody Earthy, Herbal Floral, Japanese Citrus, Spicy Wood, and Floral Floral.
Arii sourced ingredients from across Japan, including hinoki from Yoshino and yuzu from Shimanto, blending them with rare elements like agarwood from India. Each scent combines 15 to 18 ingredients, and Arii’s scientific background ensures precise, detailed formulation.
Growing up near Mount Fuji, Arii’s childhood exposure to fresh, fragrant fruit inspired his passion for natural scents. He previously launched Fruitest, a brand of semi-dried fruit, and is now working on a new line of flavored teas.
Diffar is set to redefine hair care and fragrance with its focus on purity and craftsmanship.
