At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, a surprising new haircare brand, Grabity, debuted its unique product line made from sustainable coconut husk fibers. Developed by the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and introduced by Polyphenol Factory, Grabity aims to address hair loss, thinning, and weak strands. The range includes shampoos, conditioners, and styling mists that claim to boost hair volume by 140%, lasting up to 48 hours.

In a notable twist, the product bottles are crafted from polyphenol-rich coconut husk fibers. This eco-friendly packaging is designed to reduce plastic use, aligning with the brand’s commitment to sustainability.

The scientific backing for using coconut husks in packaging is substantial. Research indicates that coconut husks can be transformed into antimicrobial coatings, biodegradable composites, and bioplastics, all of which contribute to the innovative, eco-friendly nature of Grabity’s bottles. Coconut husks are also used in medical applications like wound dressings, further highlighting their versatility and value.
