Katie Maloney, known for her role on Vanderpump Rules, decided to experiment with a new look while watching the MTV VMAs. The 36-year-old reality star shared her hair transformation journey on her Instagram Story.
Maloney began by explaining to her 1.6 million followers that she had come across a tube of “temporary color styling gel” in a red shade while cleaning out some products. She expressed curiosity about how it would work on her brunette hair.
In the next video, Maloney displayed the bright red gel on her hand and expressed excitement about trying it. She applied the gel to her hair, jokingly referring to herself as “carrot top.”
In a subsequent video, she shared the results, noting that her hair looked orange or coppery while wet but should have a different appearance once it air-dried.
However, it seemed that Maloney wasn’t entirely satisfied with the outcome, as she wrote on the video, “I think I’m just gonna go eat more pizza and try to forget.”
Despite her humorous critique, she posed for a selfie with her red-copper hair on display, playfully referring to herself as “carrot top.”
This playful hair experiment came a month after her ex-husband Tom Schwartz debuted platinum blonde hair in mid-August. Schwartz, 40, made the hair transformation while at the Mondrian hotel in Los Angeles, jokingly attributing it to a “midlife crisis.”
Maloney filed for divorce from Schwartz in March and announced their split after 12 years together. Despite their divorce, they have maintained a friendly relationship and still check in on each other, as Schwartz mentioned during an episode of the podcast “You’re Gonna Love Me with Katie Maloney.”
