MISHAWAKA, IN – Students at Penn High School are making a meaningful difference in the lives of children who experience hair loss by generously donating their hair to create wigs for those in need.

The initiative is in collaboration with “Children With Hair Loss,” a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing hair replacements at no cost to children and young adults who face hair loss due to various medical conditions.

Hair care professionals from the local community volunteered their expertise to cut and prepare the hair for free. This heartwarming event was organized by Penn High School’s “Short Hair Because We Care” club, a group of students committed to making a positive impact on their community.

Ella Smoker, the founder of the club, explained the motivation behind the initiative, saying, “We just want to encourage students and the community, but especially students, to donate something that they have that may not be like money or something that they’re unable to give. But everyone can give their hair, and all hair grows back.”

The students’ selfless act of donating their own hair to help children facing hair loss exemplifies the power of community, compassion, and the desire to make a difference in the lives of others. This thoughtful gesture demonstrates that even the smallest contributions can have a significant impact on those in need.
