A 16-year-old student from Great Sankey has made a significant contribution to charity by donating 16 inches of his hair after his first-ever haircut.
Sebastian Lloyd, a student at Great Sankey High School, decided to book an appointment with a hairdresser. Unlike most teenagers, this was his first time getting his hair cut.
Sebastian’s appointment took place at Oscars on Park Road, where he had 16 inches of his hair cut off. He chose to donate the hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides wigs to children suffering from Alopecia and Leukemia.
“I’ve had this hair for about 16 years and wanted a change. Donating it to charity felt like the right thing to do,” Sebastian said. “It feels very nice and refreshing, though I’m still getting used to it. My friends hardly recognized me; some said it looks amazing, and others said I look very different.”
Sebastian’s hair was sent to the charity to be made into a wig for children in need. In addition to donating his hair, Sebastian set up a Just Giving page to raise funds for the Little Princess Trust. So far, he has raised £730.
“We’re absolutely thrilled with him,” said Sebastian’s stepmother, Deborah. “We’re really proud that a young lad like him would want to do something so generous.”
Sebastian’s father, Geoff, added, “Our entire extended family and friends are very proud of him.”
