Actress Selma Blair caused a stir at Paris Fashion Week with an unusual accessory. Attending the Schiaparelli Haute Couture Fall 2024 show, Blair donned a striking cream suit, complemented by a necktie made of hair. This bold choice left fans divided.
Designer Schiaparelli first introduced the hair necktie in March. It has since been worn by models with fitted suits. Blair’s appearance with the braided hair necktie received mixed reviews on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
One user declared, “The hair tie is a hard fashion DON’T,” while another humorously noted her look was “hair raising,” adding, “Selma Blair’s look in a pantsuit at Paris Fashion Week turned out to be a hair-raising one indeed.”
The necktie, explained earlier this year by the designer, “paid homage to the surrealist element of hair inspired by Pippa Garner, Mimi Parent, and Meret Oppenheim’s iconic fur bracelet for Elsa Schiaparelli.” However, reactions on Reddit were critical. One user quipped, “It looks like they killed a dwarf and are wearing the beard as a trophy,” and another commented, “When they need cleaning, do you send them to the dry cleaners or the hair salon?”
In other news, Blair has considered a return to acting amid her ongoing battle with multiple sclerosis, a condition she was diagnosed with in 2018. Her appearance on “Dancing With The Stars” brought her back into the spotlight. In an interview with SELF magazine, she discussed her journey with MS and her advocacy for disability rights in Hollywood.
Reflecting on her potential return to filmmaking, Blair acknowledged the challenges: “It takes a lot of energy. I want to say, ‘Oh, it’s easy to hire me. I’m not a problem!'” She added, “But here’s my rider of things I’ll need, and they’re not just green M&Ms. It’s like, how do we make sure there’s a railing on everything? If there’s a railing, I can find a way to lift that leg correctly. But without it, I’m just lost, balance-wise.”
