Dyson Airstrait Straightener, Which Uses Air To Straighten Hair, Launched In India

by Madonna

Dyson has introduced the Dyson Airstrait straightener in India. This new addition to Dyson’s hair care lineup offers a unique straightening method using air instead of traditional hot plates, aiming to reduce hair damage. The Airstrait is specifically designed for various Indian hair types, allowing users to achieve a naturally straight look while maintaining hair strength and health. Unlike traditional straighteners from brands like Philips that use hot plates, the Airstrait uses high-pressure air blades to dry and straighten hair simultaneously.

The device has two arms that create a precisely angled air blade, directing airflow downward into the hair to dry and straighten it at the same time.

Dyson Airstrait Specifications and Features

The device offers two modes: in Dry mode, it provides temperature settings below 100°C (212°F) and at 130°C (266°F), with an additional “boost” mode at 130°C. Users can adjust airflow speed between low and high settings and utilize features such as a cold shot and root drying mode.

Equipped with glass bead thermistors, the Airstrait measures airflow temperature up to 16 times per second to maintain the optimal range and prevent heat damage, preserving the hair’s natural shine. This data is processed to adjust the heating element, ensuring the airflow stays within the required temperature limits. “It took the company six years to build the product from a concept, for end consumers,” said Steve Williamson, Dyson’s beauty category manager.

The straightener also uses precision air jets along its arms to generate high-velocity downward air blades that converge into a focused jet. This targeted airflow aligns hair strands, resulting in a smooth and natural-looking finish.
