Alexandra Shipp is celebrating her natural hair.
At the premiere of her new film The Good Half on August 13, the 33-year-old actress impressed onlookers with a stylish dress and waist-length twisted hairstyle.
“I always want to rock natural hair because that’s me,” Shipp told PEOPLE on the red carpet. “While we love a blowout, braids and twists are low maintenance and fabulous. They last longer if I sleep in a scarf or bonnet, which is why I chose this look.”
Shipp wore a halter-neck dress by Bode, featuring a red and brown criss-cross pattern, off-the-shoulder sleeves, and ruffle details. “I wanted texture because my character brings a unique style to the movie,” Shipp said. “I aimed for a punk moment with this look.”
The Good Half stars Nick Jonas as Renn Wheeland, who returns to Cleveland to face his estranged family, including his sister Leigh (Brittany Snow), father Darren (Matt Walsh), and stepfather Rick (David Arquette). Shipp plays Zooey, a captivating stranger who helps Renn confront his family relationships.
Directed by Robert Schwartzman, the comedy-drama will be released in North America on August 16.
Shipp, known for her natural hairstyles, recently attended the 20th Annual HollyShorts Film Festival in Hollywood, wearing cornrows with long braids framing her face. She paired the look with a black slip dress and combat boots.
At the London premiere of Barbie in July 2023, Shipp sported a chic updo with curls and wore a pink suit with a sparkly bra top and matching pumps.
