Integrity Ingredients Corporation has announced a strategic partnership with Apoena Biotech to introduce innovative, Brazil-sourced beauty ingredients to the U.S. market. This collaboration will allow Integrity Ingredients to expand its portfolio with sustainable, biotechnologically-produced materials that are ethically sourced from Brazil’s rich biodiversity.
In 2022, Apoena Biotech embarked on a groundbreaking bioprospecting initiative, ethically sourcing microorganisms from the Fernando de Noronha archipelago, often referred to as the “Blue Amazon.” This effort aimed to develop cutting-edge ingredients for the cosmetics and fragrance industries using advanced biotechnological processes. Earlier this year, Apoena Biotech conducted a second expedition, this time focusing on sustainable biological actives from the Tapajós National Forest in Brazil’s Amazon region.
Among the latest innovations from Apoena is Apobio Film, a multifunctional postbiotic product designed to form a biofilm that locks in moisture, providing significant benefits for both hair and skin care. This technology, derived from the fermentation of polysaccharide- and fructooligosaccharide-rich probiotic bacteria, creates a protective layer on the hair, helping to maintain hydration and prevent dryness.
Through its new partnership with Integrity Ingredients, Apoena Biotech’s sustainable and biotechnologically-derived ingredients will now be available in the U.S. market. These ingredients offer a range of benefits, including hydration, protection, anti-aging effects, and cleansing properties.
“With Apoena as our partner, we are excited to enhance our product offerings with fermented and bioengineered ingredients,” said David Howell, CEO of Integrity Ingredients Corporation. “These materials will not only improve product formulations but also align with the growing consumer demand for sustainable and effective personal care ingredients.”
