Lily Collins has once again showcased her impeccable flair for fashion, both on and off the screen, in the latest episodes of Emily in Paris season four. Known for pairing her bold outfits with equally striking hairstyles, Collins dazzled fans with an array of dramatic updos, voluminous curls, and sleek, elongated looks.
The show, which took an unexpected twist in Rome, is now officially renewed for a fifth season, set in the Italian capital. While Collins rocked many trending hairstyles on-screen, her most transformative look was revealed off-screen: a sharp, razored bob that she debuted during the season’s promotional tour.
Since then, Collins has played around with her bob, giving fans a glimpse of her ‘flapper bob’ and razor-sharp finishes. But now, she’s turned heads with another bold autumn hair trend: copper curls.
The actress, previously known for her signature chocolate-brown hair, made her debut on the West End stage sporting the fresh, fiery look. Appearing alongside Álvaro Morte in Barcelona, a play by Bess Wohl, Collins traded her brunette bob for vibrant copper curls and a nostalgic side part. The play will run from October to January at the Duke of York’s Theatre.
Copper hair has been making waves this season, with the trend gaining significant traction. L’Oréal reports an 80% surge in the hashtag ‘copper hair’ on social media in the past month, and hair salons are seeing increased demand for the auburn shade.
Hairstylist Neil Moodie, commenting on the trend, noted that romantic shades of red—coppers, auburns, and cinnamon tones—are a natural fit for autumn. “Fiery reds were huge in the 80s, and at the Neil Moodie Studio, we’ve reintroduced them this season to make a bold, captivating statement of modern glamour, with a hint of Renaissance flair,” Moodie told ELLE UK.
Hair expert Tom Smith concurs, adding that warmer, richer hues tend to dominate each autumn as people seek a glow to counteract the colder, greyer days. “In recent years, copper shades have steadily grown in popularity, and this season, I’ve predicted Terracopper as the leading shade. It’s a more vibrant take on copper but retains earthy terracotta undertones, providing depth and avoiding an overly bright or artificial look,” Smith explained.
Collins also embraced another trending hairstyle: the side part. Unlike the bold side-parted bobs seen on stars like Saoirse Ronan at the Emmy Awards, Collins’ copper curls and side-part fringe offer a perfect autumn update, adding a nostalgic yet modern twist to her ever-evolving style.
