Mielle Organics is facing significant backlash after several customers took to social media to claim that the company’s products have caused them hair loss. Some users allege that these issues began following Procter & Gamble’s acquisition of the brand.
Despite these claims, Mielle Organics has firmly denied any changes to its product formulas.
Justin Carter from The Shade Room is investigating these hair loss allegations in a segment titled ‘TSR Investigates.’
Customer Experiences with Mielle Organics
Carter highlights that Mielle has consistently promoted its commitment to delivering “high-quality” products made with “healthy” and “mostly organic” ingredients. However, consumers using the brand’s Rosemary and Mint collection report a different experience.
Kourtney Brown, a long-time user of Mielle products since 2016, shared with Carter that she has recently noticed “a lot” of hair falling out in “clumps.” Another customer, Jade Robertson, who began using the Rosemary and Mint collection in 2022, reported similar concerns. “I was noticing that my edges were thinning out, and excessive hair was falling out—like clumps of hair,” she said.
After undergoing medical evaluations and gradually discontinuing the use of Mielle products, Robertson found that others were sharing comparable experiences on social media.
Expert Opinion on the Hair Care Controversy
In light of these allegations, Carter consulted Dr. Jocelynn Nelson, a biochemist and biophysicist, for her insights. Dr. Nelson noted the uncertainty surrounding whether Procter & Gamble is still sourcing from the same suppliers that Mielle used previously. “Different suppliers have different standards,” she explained, which could impact product quality.
As the investigation unfolds, consumers remain concerned about the implications of these claims on the brand’s reputation and the safety of its products.
