HRB Brands, a Westport-based company known for its skin and hair care products, has been acquired by the European firm Sodalis Group.
Sodalis, a family-owned business headquartered in Lodi, Italy, finalized the acquisition from Tengram Capital Partners, a private equity firm also based in Westport. HRB Brands is the parent company of well-known brands such as Alberto VO5, Brut, and Zero Frizz. Tengram had previously acquired HRB in April 2020.
In recent years, HRB has made strides in expanding its market presence, particularly in Latin America, while also pursuing various investments.
Fabio Granata, CEO of Sodalis, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating that it positions the company to extend its product offerings into North and South America. “With this acquisition, what seemed like a crazy dream becomes reality: Sodalis enters the American market with a direct affiliate,” Granata remarked. He emphasized the significance of this transformation, noting that the company, which originated in a small Italian province, is now making its mark in the U.S. market.
Tengram Capital Partners manages a diverse portfolio of consumer brands, including Tone It Up and Zanella, and has a history of ownership with notable companies such as Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc. and Sharper Image.
Sodalis Group operates offices across France, Germany, Portugal, and Spain, complemented by five research laboratories and five production sites dedicated to its extensive product line.
