Colchester-based salon Fubar has been crowned the winner of the Gazette’s ‘Your Favourite Hairdresser’ award for 2024, following a public vote across north and mid Essex.
The competition invited the community to choose their top hairdressing establishments, with Fubar emerging as the clear favorite. Harry Neeson, the salon’s current owner, expressed his gratitude to those who supported the business.
“We are thrilled to have been nominated and voted for,” Neeson said. “We truly appreciate the support from our fabulous clients.”
Fubar was originally founded in 2007 by experienced stylist Donna Chaplin and is now co-managed by Harry and his wife, Ella Neeson. Over its 17-year history, the salon has become renowned for its daring creativity, specializing in fashion-forward colors and bold, statement-making styles.
“We pride ourselves on embracing individuality and creating a welcoming space for everyone,” Harry added. “We’re never knowingly conventional.”
In addition to their vibrant approach to styling, Fubar has shown strong community engagement, recently sponsoring a local music festival. The salon plans to continue supporting local events and is offering a 20 percent discount to new clients through their website.
