SUWANEE — The Standard Salon is set to open, offering both booth rentals and a commission structure for stylists. Founded by Casey Mims and Lexi Polino, along with Mims’ sister, Kelly McDaniel, the salon aims to create a supportive environment for stylists at all levels.
Polino shared her long-standing connection with Mims, explaining, “My brother and her son grew up together. When I was in high school considering a career in hair, I reached out to Casey. She helped me get my first salon job.”
With nearly 40 years of combined experience in the beauty industry, Mims and Polino are dedicated to fostering growth among their team. “We want to create an environment where stylists can grow at their own pace,” Mims stated. “If you’re a newer stylist, we want to help you reach your goals.”
After two years of searching, they found the perfect location in a brick building at 677 Main Street. “It fell into our laps,” Polino remarked. “It’s a cool building in a historic part of Suwanee, and the area is being revitalized.”
Despite the challenges of starting a new business, the owners find the experience rewarding. “It works magically because we’re yin and yang,” Mims said. “We meet in the middle when we have different opinions, creating a great balance.”
Polino echoed this sentiment, stating, “I’m learning new things daily. We can have different views, but we always come together.”
