SEOUL, South Korea, Oct. 30, 2024—AesMed Co., Ltd., a leader in hair loss treatment in South Korea, has announced its participation in Cosmoprof Asia Hong Kong 2024. This premier B2B international trade fair for the beauty industry will take place from November 13 to 15, 2024, at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. The event is a key platform for global beauty trendsetters to unveil the latest technologies and product innovations.
At the fair, AesMed will prominently promote its nonprofit initiative, Hair Care Day 2024. This campaign aims to raise awareness about hair loss treatments and provide support to individuals experiencing hair loss. The initiative symbolizes the journey from hair loss, represented by “1011,” to a full head of hair, denoted by “1111.” The period from October 11 to November 11 each year is designated as “Hair Care Season,” with November 11 recognized as “Hair Care Day,” reinforcing its nonprofit mission.
A recent government survey in South Korea revealed that the population affected by hair loss has increased by over 20% in the last decade. Notably, 63% of individuals aged 20 to 40 have reported hair loss symptoms, with women accounting for 44% of this group. Additionally, 6.6% of adolescents are now experiencing hair loss, highlighting the issue’s reach across all age groups. Despite the growing concern globally, there remains a lack of solidarity and awareness regarding hair loss, prompting AesMed to launch and maintain the Hair Care Day campaign.
Since its inception in South Korea in 2020, the campaign has expanded and will involve local hospitals and partners from ten countries starting in 2024. It aims to provide support for individuals with hair loss without commercial interests while fostering the development of hair loss treatment technologies. During the trade fair, AesMed will present the significance and accomplishments of the Hair Care Day campaign and encourage participation from hospitals, companies, research institutes, and relevant organizations.
AesMed CEO Jeongwoo Joe Yi remarked, “Cosmoprof Asia is the largest international beauty fair in Asia, attracting beauty buyers from various regions, including Mainland China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, Japan, Thailand, and Indonesia. This participation is an opportunity to present the Hair Care Day campaign on a global stage and foster cooperation with more partners.” He expressed optimism about the event, stating, “By promoting empathy for hair loss treatment and advancing hair loss technology, we can positively impact those affected.”
The Hair Care Day campaign has garnered support from various experts. Dr. Jin-O Kim from NewHair Hair Transplant Center emphasized the importance of filling the void left by hair loss, stating, “Our hospital agrees to designate the period from 1011 to 1111 as Hair Care Season. During this campaign, our medical staff is committed to delivering positive energy to our patients.” Dr. Yoon-Woo Noh from Maxwell Dermatology Hair Clinic added, “Hair loss is not an insurmountable issue. Most cases can be treated with accurate diagnosis.” He noted that Hair Care Day will significantly enhance societal awareness of hair loss treatments.
Additionally, AesMed has been running a hair prosthesis donation project for individuals with alopecia since 2020 and plans to participate in the WCHR2026 World Congress for Hair Research in Seoul in May 2026. This conference will bring together global hair researchers to share the latest findings and treatment technologies. AesMed aims to strengthen its position as a global leader in hair loss treatment through its participation in this congress, further promoting the Hair Care Day campaign and advancing societal awareness and technology in the field.
