The Fruition Group in Brisbane is set for a bigger mantlepiece after a standout performance at the Australian Hair Fashion Awards (AHFA), the premier event honoring top talent in hair styling and color across the nation.
For the second consecutive year, Max Cooper has been named the AHFA 2024 QLD Hairdresser of the Year. This achievement qualifies Max to represent Queensland at the national awards, a distinction that requires winning two consecutive state titles.
At just 31 years old, Max is a salon partner at Helmet Hair Co., part of The Fruition Group, where he also works as a full-time stylist and Education Facilitator. He clinched this year’s title with his ‘Reverie’ collection. Max is no stranger to accolades; he was a finalist for Queensland Hairdresser of the Year in 2022 and has styled for leading fashion events across the country.
Also celebrating success at the AHFA is Louise Graham, another talented stylist from The Fruition Group, who won the AHFA 2024 Creative Colourist of the Year award. Her collection, ‘Notte Stellata,’ draws inspiration from her personal journey, capturing emotions like passion, rage, and love through innovative color techniques.
The Fruition Group was established by Craig Smith, an AHFA Hairdresser of the Year alumni, known for his unique mullet and extensive teaching experience worldwide. Since opening in Brisbane in 1996 and relocating to Wilston in 2012, Craig has mentored numerous apprentices, many of whom have gone on to achieve award-winning status and work in prestigious salons in London and New York.
