South African media personality and businesswoman, Dineo Ranaka, has shared a candid look at her recent hair transplant journey. In an effort to address a receding hairline and thinning hair, Ranaka sought treatment at a reputable clinic in Sandton, Johannesburg.
The procedure, which was performed at Brows by Karis clinic, is expected to take between four to six weeks to complete, according to the clinic’s specialists. Karabo Sekati, a representative from the clinic, took to Instagram to document Ranaka’s experience, highlighting the factors contributing to her hair thinning, such as hormonal changes, hypothyroidism, and the impact of tight hairstyles that led to traction alopecia.
In a recent post on her own Instagram, Ranaka shared an update on her recovery five days after the procedure. She explained her daily routine, which includes using Proskin foam for a 20-minute soak to aid the healing process. “I can’t sleep on my sides to prevent damage to the implants, so I sleep facing up for the first few days,” she revealed.
Ranaka also emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle during the recovery phase. “I’m being mindful of what I consume because I believe that proper nutrition can support and enhance any cosmetic or medical procedure,” she said.
During the early stages of the transplant, excessive sweating is discouraged, with Ranaka warning her followers about the challenges of staying active. “If you love body training at the gym, you’re in for a tough time, just like I was,” she admitted.
While more strenuous workouts and activities that may lead to sweating are not allowed until 21 days post-procedure, Ranaka was given special permission to engage in low-intensity exercises as long as she avoided sweating. “Not being able to train for 21 days would drive me crazy, so I got permission to do very light workouts, with the goal of not sweating,” she explained.
Ranaka’s openness about her hair transplant journey offers an honest insight into the process, as she continues to recover and adjust to the lifestyle changes required for the best results.
