Kody Brown, star of Sister Wives and father of 18, opened up about the effort that goes into maintaining his iconic blond curls during the latest episode of the TLC reality show, which aired on Sunday, December 1.
As part of his travel preparations for a “man trip” to Las Vegas with his two brothers, Scott and Michael, the 55-year-old showcased his unique haircare regimen. The scene featured Kody’s brothers waiting outside his home, joking that he was likely “doing his hair,” while they proudly displayed their own bald heads.
A short time later, Kody emerged from his home wearing a hairnet, humorously addressing the ongoing commentary about his hair: “Everybody always wants to give me crap about my hair, but I have to do a lot of work to take care of this hair.”
After removing the hairnet, Kody’s signature blond curls bounced back into place, prompting a half-sarcastic “Wow” from his brothers. “Listen, if I don’t dry it right, the curls don’t happen,” Kody explained during a confessional. A flashback to a high school photo featuring Kody with a striking blond mullet added humor to the moment.
Scott, Kody’s brother, recalled how hair has always been a priority for him, saying, “Even when he was a pre-teenager, his hair has always been important to him.” Kody responded with his signature humor, quipping, “Don’t be jealous. It’s a lot of work.”
In another candid moment, Kody acknowledged the challenges of keeping his curls in top shape, particularly as he begins to experience more gray hair. “I need it to be pretty, and the hairnet helps the curls,” he added, demonstrating his technique by flipping his hair and scrunching it with product.
Though Kody admits his routine may seem “a little cheesy,” he insists it works, adding, “You know, if I don’t want to spend the entire time blow-drying, it’s a little cheesy, but it works.”
However, the lighter moments were juxtaposed with some serious discussions later in the episode. Kody, who is now married to his fourth wife, Robyn, spoke about ongoing tensions and property disputes with his ex-wife, Janelle. In a candid conversation with Meri Brown, another ex-wife, Kody expressed frustration over the ongoing financial issues, particularly regarding their Flagstaff, Arizona property.
During the exchange, Kody shared his belief that Janelle doesn’t trust him, commenting, “Janelle doesn’t trust me because she would screw me if she could. That’s what I believe. Okay, and I’ll be honest, I’ve thought about screwing her.” Laughing, Kody added, “But I won’t. My wife with a conscience won’t let me,” referring to Robyn’s influence on him.
The episode offered fans a rare glimpse into Kody’s personal life, balancing light-hearted moments about his hair with more intense reflections on family dynamics and marital tensions.
