“The Prince William Effect” Drives Surge in Beard Transplants

by Madonna

Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, has long been celebrated for her fashion influence, with items she wears often flying off the shelves in what has become known as “the Kate effect.” Now, it appears her husband, Prince William, is making a similar impact—this time, with his facial hair.

Earlier this year, Prince William made waves when he debuted a beard, quickly winning over royal enthusiasts. When he shaved it off, fans mourned the loss of his new look. Since then, the beard has become a regular feature at royal engagements, and it seems to have inspired a new trend among men seeking to emulate his style.

According to the Express, one clinic in Turkey has seen a significant uptick in consultations for beard transplants, a trend that experts are calling “the Prince William effect.” Murat Alsac, cofounder of EsteNove clinic in Istanbul, reported a 200% increase in beard transplant procedures. “Patients are bringing in photos of Prince William and saying, ‘Make me look like that,'” Alsac told the outlet. “They see it as rugged and masculine.”

Despite the surge in popularity, Prince William’s facial hair wasn’t an immediate hit with everyone. In November, he shared a humorous anecdote about his daughter, Princess Charlotte, who was less than thrilled when she first saw her father’s beard. “Charlotte didn’t like it the first time,” William admitted during a visit to Cape Town. “I got floods of tears. The first one I got tears, so I had to shave it off.”

However, the Prince wasn’t deterred. “Then I grew it back,” he said. “I thought, hang on a second, and I convinced her it was going to be okay.”

Over the weekend, Prince William was in Paris for the highly anticipated reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral, where he met with international leaders, including former U.S. President Donald Trump. In an interview with the New York Post, Trump recalled a conversation with the Prince, calling him “very handsome” and sharing details of a “sad” discussion they had during the event.

With his beard now firmly in place, Prince William’s influence continues to extend beyond fashion, sparking new trends in cosmetic surgery.
