Cher has once again wowed fans with a striking new look, swapping her iconic dark tresses for blonde beachy waves during the Victoria’s Secret event in October. However, she returned to her signature black curls during a recent appearance on Desert Island Discs, where she flaunted soft, natural waves.
Despite celebrating her 78th birthday this year, Cher shows no signs of slowing down. During an appearance on Good Morning Britain, she declared, “I’ll still be wearing my jeans, long hair, and doing the same things I’ve always done.” Cher also reflected on societal expectations for aging women, joking that she hasn’t yet hit the point where she feels the need to cut her hair or stop wearing jeans.
On Desert Island Discs, Cher shared an emotional memory from her acting debut in Silkwood (1983), where she starred alongside Meryl Streep and Kurt Russell. Cher recalled her anxiety over the audience’s initial reaction to her role, revealing that when her name appeared in the trailer, the audience laughed. “I bit the inside of my cheek, and then I thought, ‘You can’t argue with what everyone’s thinking,’” she said.
Her performance eventually earned critical acclaim, including a Golden Globe win and an Oscar nomination, proving her versatility as both a music and film icon. Cher continues to redefine aging while staying true to her bold style.
