In a newly resurfaced excerpt from Spare, Prince Harry shared an intimate detail about his relationship with his father, King Charles, including the monarch’s preference for women’s hairstyles. According to Harry, King Charles has a fondness for Kate Middleton’s hair because she usually wears it down.
“Pa likes it when women wear their hair down,” Harry revealed, noting that the late Queen Elizabeth shared a similar sentiment. “Granny too… She often commented on ‘Kate’s beautiful mane.’”
The preference for Kate’s signature loose curls wasn’t just a royal trait. Harry also recalled how his wife, Meghan Markle, was encouraged to wear her hair down when they first started dating. Meanwhile, Harry reflected on how his brother, Prince William, initially disapproved of his relationship with Meghan, describing how William made disparaging comments about dating an “American actress,” which Harry said always sounded like “convicted felon.” Despite their early tensions, Harry said William later supported his decision to propose to Meghan, even offering a special bracelet from Princess Diana to help create the engagement ring.
