Expert Tips on Achieving Fuller-Looking Hair as You Age

by Madonna

As women age, hair thinning often becomes a natural part of the process. Over time, hair strands become finer, lose pigment, and may lose the volume once enjoyed in younger years. However, with the right strategies, it’s possible to achieve fuller, more vibrant hair even in later years, without the need for extensions.

In an exclusive interview with GB News, hairstylist Fausta Urte Geigaite shared her expert advice on how women can enhance the appearance of thicker hair. Geigaite explained that a simple haircut or color change could make a significant difference in achieving volume.

“Consult with your stylist about cuts and treatments that enhance volume,” Geigaite advised. “Request a layered haircut to add texture and movement, creating the illusion of fuller hair.” She also recommended discussing volumizing treatments or thickening serums with your stylist to achieve immediate results.

Geigaite noted that color techniques like balayage or highlights can further contribute to the appearance of thicker hair by adding depth and dimension, giving the hair a more dynamic and voluminous look.

For those looking to enhance hair thickness at home, Geigaite suggested selecting products that contain biotin, a key ingredient known to strengthen hair and reduce thinning. “Keratin is another important ingredient,” she explained, “as it helps restore and maintain the hair’s natural structure, while hyaluronic acid hydrates and plumps each strand.”

The hairstylist also recommended avoiding products with sulfates and parabens, as they can strip the hair of its natural oils, leading to dryness and damage. Instead, opting for nourishing oils can improve hair density.

“Coconut oil is excellent for deep moisturization and helps reduce protein loss in hair strands,” Geigaite noted. “Argan oil is rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants, which enhance hair elasticity and shine.”

For a more intensive treatment, Geigaite pointed to castor oil, which is known for promoting blood circulation to the scalp, stimulating hair growth, and improving thickness.

With these tips, women can take practical steps toward fuller, healthier-looking hair as they age.
