Washing your hair may seem like a simple routine, but not everyone is doing it correctly, according to an expert. The right shampoo and conditioner routine can leave your hair looking glossy, healthy, and soft. However, using the wrong methods can lead to lackluster results.
Sophie Margetts, the founder of Socoh Salon, shared her expert tips on TikTok, highlighting a common mistake many people make when conditioning their hair. She emphasized the importance of thoroughly rinsing out conditioner to avoid greasy, rough strands.
To get the best results, Sophie suggests towel-drying your hair or gently squeezing out excess moisture before applying conditioner. This ensures the conditioner is more concentrated, allowing it to deeply nourish your ends.
She explained, “The more water you remove from your hair, the less diluted the conditioner is, and the more moisture it can soak into your ends.”
Apply the conditioner to the mid-lengths and ends of your hair, using your fingers or a comb to distribute it evenly. After leaving it on for a few minutes, finish with a quick scalp massage to stimulate circulation and hair growth. Then, rinse your hair thoroughly.
Sophie warns that leaving conditioner in your hair will cause it to feel sticky and prevent your strands from being soft and luscious once dry. So, be sure to rinse thoroughly to avoid this issue!
