The Root Project is changing how we care for our hair, focusing on the often-overlooked scalp. The new brand’s rootcare essentials are designed to nourish the scalp and promote strong, shiny hair. While many products treat mid-lengths and ends, The Root Project prioritizes the roots, ensuring a healthy foundation for hair growth.
Co-founders Lucrecia Jovel and Patrick Harriman, both experienced beauty professionals, created a line that multitasks. Their first three products — a shampoo, conditioner, and hair mask — care for the scalp while nourishing hair from root to tip.
Central to the formulas is The Root Complex, a blend of superfoods, antioxidant glutathione, amino acid cysteine, ceramides, proteins, and vitamins. These ingredients protect the hair and nourish both the scalp and strands. “The Root Complex creates a healthy terrain for hair to grow, starting with the scalp,” says Jovel.
The products offer a sensory experience, with the Clean Canvas: Detoxifying Hair Cleanser featuring peppermint for a tingling sensation, and the Power Smooth: Extreme Softening Hair Mask carrying a refreshing citrus scent from Sicilian lemon peel.
The line provides a simple, customizable routine. For dry, thick hair, use the mask before the conditioner, while finer hair may benefit from using the mask once a week instead of conditioner.
The Root Project also emphasizes sustainability, with water-free products made from aloe vera juice. The brand is vegan, cruelty-free, and free of sulfates and parabens, with packaging made from 100% upcycled plastic.
The Root Project is redefining hair care by focusing on the scalp for healthier, flourishing hair.
