As the “skinification” trend grows in hair care, consumers are increasingly focusing on scalp health, treating it with the same care as skin. Ceramides, known for their hydrating and soothing properties in skin care, are now being incorporated into hair care products. One such innovation is Sphingo HAIR Drypure, a bio-fermentation-derived ceramide NP developed by Croda.
Deaan Nie, business development manager at Croda China, shares, “We found that ceramides have the potential to be multifunctional.” This ingredient enhances scalp hydration, reduces flaking, soothes inflammation, and improves hair shine and manageability.
Unlike typical ceramides, Sphingo HAIR Drypure has a longer chain structure, offering additional benefits for both the scalp and hair fibers. It can also repair the skin and scalp barrier while promoting smoother hair.
Croda’s launch of Sphingo HAIR Drypure at the 2025 PCHi show in China highlights the growing demand for high-performance actives in hair care. The ingredient has already been successfully incorporated into various formulations like shampoos, conditioners, and serums.
