Kaz Crossley, 30, has revealed that her alopecia has returned, sharing an honest update with her followers. The Love Island star posted a photo on her social media showing the back of her head, where she pulled up her short platinum blonde hair to reveal a small bald patch. In her caption, she explained, “Found a small alopecia spot (new),” and added the hashtag #alopeciaawareness.
Alopecia, the medical term for hair loss, affects both men and women equally, with alopecia areata causing patchy baldness, often around the size of a large coin.
Kaz, who has been sporting a stylish cropped hairstyle, was recently back on-screen for the All Stars spin-off of Love Island, where she formed a connection with fellow contestant Montel McKenzie. The pair had previously posted a TikTok video together to confirm they were in a relationship, with Kaz’s short, sassy locks getting plenty of attention. However, their co-star and All Stars winner, Gabby Allen, later stirred rumors, claiming that Kaz and Montel had split.
A Bold Transformation and Brave Battle with Alopecia
Kaz has previously spoken out about her ongoing struggle with alopecia. Her hair transformation, from long brunette waves to a short, platinum blonde pixie cut, was inspired by her battle with the condition. In March 2023, she opened up about how alopecia caused bald patches around her hairline, sharing a vulnerable post with her followers. She admitted to having “a good cry” after looking at photos of herself dealing with the condition.
At the time, Kaz explained how the stress of her arrest and detention in Dubai, followed by her return to the UK, had contributed to the onset of her hair loss. “Sometimes you will have days where you don’t feel strong, and that’s okay—it’s so important to let it out!” she wrote. She also spoke candidly about the anxiety she felt regarding her bald patches, fearing that others might notice them. “It was a constant reminder of a difficult time,” she shared.
Kaz used her platform to encourage others experiencing similar challenges, urging them to not let insecurities take over. “Trust me, I feel anyone else dealing with this, and we will get through it together! Don’t let these thoughts take over for too long. We are too blessed to be stressed, let it out and keep going. You’ve got this.”
A year after her initial post, Kaz made the bold decision to shave off her trademark locks, all in the name of charity. The star continues to use her experience to raise awareness and offer support to others dealing with alopecia.
