THE VILLAGES, FL — April 21, 2025 — A resident of The Villages has been banned from a local hair salon as part of a pre-trial intervention agreement that will allow her to avoid prosecution following a theft arrest last year.
Emma Ennist, 39, of Whittington Circle in the Village of DeLuna, was arrested in October after allegedly stealing a handbag and a pair of earrings from Salon Jaylee at Magnolia Plaza. According to court records from Sumter County, Ennist has since entered into a pre-trial intervention contract that includes several conditions in exchange for the dismissal of the charge.
Under the terms of the agreement, Ennist must complete a Shoplifters Anonymous course, perform 40 hours of community service, and is prohibited from returning to Salon Jaylee. If she successfully complies with these conditions, the theft charge will be dropped.
The incident occurred when a salon employee contacted law enforcement after suspecting Ennist of theft. Officers from the Wildwood Police Department located Ennist in a golf cart in the shopping plaza’s parking lot. While she initially denied the accusation, she accompanied an officer back to the salon, where she waited outside as the officer reviewed video surveillance.
Footage confirmed that Ennist had taken the handbag from inside the salon. Officers recovered the stolen bag from her golf cart and also found a pair of earrings in her possession. The total value of the stolen items was reported as $312.99.
