George Clooney Says New Hair Color Leaves Him Unrecognizable

by Madonna

New York, NY — George Clooney, long celebrated as one of Hollywood’s quintessential silver foxes, has revealed that his latest hair transformation has left even the most devoted fans doing double takes.

The 62-year-old actor recently swapped his signature salt-and-pepper locks for a deep brunette shade—a dramatic change he adopted for his role as Edward R. Murrow in the upcoming Broadway adaptation of Good Night, and Good Luck. Appearing in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, Clooney admitted the makeover has provided one unexpected benefit: anonymity.

“The only good news is that I can walk in the streets of New York and nobody recognizes me. It’s the craziest thing,” Clooney said, while showcasing his new dark brown hair, matching eyebrows, and clean-shaven look.

Despite the advantage of going unnoticed, Clooney confessed he’s not particularly fond of the dyed look. “I’ve had this hair going for a bit and I hate it,” he added.

Fans took to social media to express surprise at the transformation, with some likening his new look to that of actors John Goodman and Joe Piscopo, while others joked he resembled a “game show host.”

Clooney also revealed that the new style hasn’t been well received at home. “My wife hates it,” he said of human rights attorney Amal Clooney. “She says, ‘It’s not a good look on you.’”

The actor previously discussed the transformation in a February interview with The New York Times, acknowledging that Amal would likely be unimpressed. “Nothing makes you look older than when an older guy dyes his hair,” he quipped.

Clooney also predicted that his 7-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, would find humor in the sudden shift. “My kids are going to just laugh at me nonstop,” he said.

As he continues preparations for the Broadway debut, Clooney says he’s eager to return to his natural grays—but, for now, the dark dye remains part of the role.
