Bangor, Maine – JB Hair Fashions, the iconic salon located on Hillside Avenue in Bangor, is taking a groovy trip down memory lane as they celebrate their impressive 40-year milestone by paying homage to the vibrant 1980s, the decade in which they first opened their doors.
Owner Susan Ross fondly recalls the salon’s humble beginnings in 1983, reminiscing, “We started in 1983, and I began this journey with a dear friend who’s no longer with us. Back then, the desire to venture out on our own was strong. We had both previously worked in other establishments, and she was a real go-getter. So, I decided to join her, and everything worked out wonderfully.”
The salon’s staff members are fully embracing the spirit of the ’80s, donning their most fabulous ’80s-inspired ensembles to mark the occasion. But the celebration doesn’t stop there; JB Hair Fashions is also showing their appreciation to their loyal clientele.
Ross shares the salon’s anniversary festivities, saying, “We’re hosting giveaways and offering JB Hair Bucks. For every $10 our clients spend this month, they receive $1 to use next month. Additionally, we’re giving away an $80 disco ball filled with money.”
Having been cutting, washing, and styling the good folks of Bangor for four incredible decades, JB Hair Fashions has become an integral part of the community.
Ross attributes the salon’s enduring success to its steadfast client base, noting, “I believe our longevity sets us apart. We’re well-established and have become a household name. We’re serving multiple generations—our original clients, their children, and even their grandchildren. Over the past few weeks, it’s been amazing to see people come in and share their stories. They’ll say, ‘Oh, I’ve been coming here for 35 years,’ and it’s truly heartwarming.”
