The pop star expressed her feelings of being scrutinized throughout her life, stating, “I’d been eyeballed so much growing up. I’d been looked up and down, had people telling me what they thought of my body since I was a teenager.” Shaving her head and engaging in rebellious behavior were her methods of pushing back against the constant scrutiny and control.

In her memoir, the 41-year-old singer revealed that her father, Jamie Spears, gained control over her personal, medical, and financial matters in 2008, effectively stripping her of autonomy. She recounted being forced to grow her hair back and adhere to a prescribed lifestyle, which included early bedtimes and compliance with medications.

Furthermore, in another excerpt from her memoir, Britney Spears conveyed how the conservatorship negatively impacted her sense of self, stating, “The conservatorship stripped me of my womanhood, made me into a child. I became more of an entity than a person onstage. I had always felt music in my bones and my blood; they stole that from me.”

She also expressed her belief that she didn’t deserve the treatment she received from her family, saying, “The woman in me was pushed down for a long time. They wanted me to be wild onstage… and to be a robot the rest of the time.”

Britney Spears’ memoir, ‘The Woman in Me,’ is set to provide an intimate look into the tumultuous chapters of her life, offering an opportunity for the public to gain deeper insights into her experiences and struggles.
