The story of Shear Artistry traces back to the birth of Crabtree’s daughter, a mere four months old at the time, and the realization of a lifelong dream to establish her own salon. Her passion for the art of hair design can be traced back to her formative years, where she fondly recalls washing and styling her father’s hair while growing up in Dale City.
Upon tying the knot, Crabtree and her husband discovered the Kincaid Forest neighborhood in Leesburg, and it was here that they fell in love with the welcoming and family-friendly ambiance. In pursuit of her dream, her husband went the extra mile, building a salon right within their home. This unique in-home salon featured all the amenities necessary for a thriving business, including a hair washing sink, a salon chair, and special lighting.
As Crabtree reminisces about her early days in the business, she reflects on the part-time nature of her work while her children were growing up. She built her client base primarily through word-of-mouth referrals from her neighbors. The journey that began in her front living room has now expanded into a prosperous and bustling salon.
With her youngest child now heading off to college, Crabtree is more determined than ever to further develop the business and to stay at the forefront of the industry by acquiring new skills and techniques to share with her loyal clientele.
“This is such an exciting new chapter,” she exclaims.
