In a heartwarming display of community spirit, F.H.F Hair Design in Cedartown has achieved a remarkable milestone in their annual toy drive, making this year’s collection the most substantial to date. Owner Hal Floyd and the salon’s clientele played the role of Santa’s helpers by gathering funds and new toys, spreading joy to families and children in need during the festive season.
For the 15th consecutive year, Floyd spearheaded the initiative, transforming his salon into a haven of generosity. A visually impressive pile of toys adorned the salon’s front, serving as a testament to the collective goodwill of the community. The salon’s efforts resulted in an outstanding $6,200 in funds, dedicated to purchasing toys and warm clothing for those in need, in addition to the new toys contributed by clients.
Floyd emphasized the local impact of the drive, stating, “The thing about our drive is people know it stays local. We work with Community of Hope in Polk County to distribute the toys.” This commitment to keeping the donations within the community has undoubtedly contributed to the success and longevity of the annual initiative.
A standout moment in this year’s campaign was an anonymous donation of $5,000 from a local business owner, marking a remarkable start for the contributor’s inaugural year of participation. Floyd expressed gratitude for the generosity, highlighting the community’s collective spirit in supporting the toy drive.
The toy drive is just one facet of F.H.F Hair Design’s broader commitment to community service. The salon actively engages in initiatives such as breast cancer awareness programs and an annual back-to-school event. The latter provides free haircuts for kids and distributes essential school supplies, reinforcing the salon’s dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of community members.
Looking ahead, Floyd shared plans for their upcoming back-to-school bash, slated to commence preparations soon after the new year. The salon will begin accepting donations for school supplies in anticipation of the event scheduled for July, further underlining their commitment to fostering community well-being and engagement.
