Hair Academy in Odessa Marks Successful One-Year Milestone

by Madonna

Odessa, Texas – The Hair Academy in Odessa is commemorating its first-year anniversary with notable achievements, including a significant uptick in student enrollment over the past year.

Founded by Brian Nunez, who himself faced challenges pursuing a career in barbering without the opportunities he wished for, the Hair Academy emerged as a beacon for aspiring barbers in the Odessa community.

Reflecting on the Academy’s inception, Nunez shared, “We didn’t have that chance to get licensed. We started to bring the academy here and bring what we thought we needed for some education, so I was able to establish this business.”

Nunez’s vision was to create a local platform where individuals could gain access to quality education in the barber industry without having to travel to distant locations. “We are going out of town, giving everybody else our talent and giving everybody else our money. We should keep all of our talent here because Odessa has a lot of talented barbers, and they would have to go out of town to go to school and get all the education,” he emphasized.

Beginning with a modest twelve students, the Hair Academy has experienced remarkable growth, boasting around fifty students currently enrolled. Nunez, serving as the sole instructor, is dedicated to imparting essential skills and knowledge to his students, emphasizing the significance of social skills in the hair industry.

“To be a better human being, learning social skills, and learning how to communicate with clients and how to welcome them,” explained Angel Sanchez, a student at the Hair Academy.

With fifteen students set to graduate within the next three months, Nunez envisions the success of his students as a reflection of the Academy’s impact. “As long as my students expand and open their business and open their stuff, I’m going to be a branch to them. As long as my students are expanding, I’m always expanding. I’m good,” he affirmed.

Looking ahead, the Hair Academy plans to take the next steps in its growth journey, including acquiring a larger facility and welcoming additional instructors to further enhance the educational experience for its students. The anniversary celebration serves not only as a testament to the Academy’s accomplishments but also as a promising prelude to its future endeavors in nurturing the next generation of skilled barbers.
