Ross Kemp, renowned for his role as Grant Mitchell in the iconic British soap opera EastEnders, has shed light on his decision to forgo hair transplantation procedures, despite desires for a fuller head of hair.
In a recent revelation, Kemp expressed his determination to embrace his natural appearance, regardless of societal expectations. Acknowledging the perpetual scrutiny of his physical features, he humorously remarked, “I do try and make myself look presentable, which isn’t easy with this face. I look in the mirror and think: squashed sultana,” in a column published in The Sunday Times.
While confessing to harboring desires for certain alterations, Kemp remained resolute in his stance against cosmetic interventions. “Do I wish I had a head of hair? Of course, but I’d never have hair implants, or plastic surgery to fix this bit under my chin. This is me. If you don’t like it, you know what you can do,” he affirmed.
Despite eschewing surgical enhancements, Kemp emphasized his commitment to physical fitness and self-care routines, which include sparring, ju-jitsu sessions thrice weekly, running, weight training, and maintaining a balanced diet rich in protein and vegetables.
Since bidding farewell to his iconic character in EastEnders in 1999, Kemp has carved a niche for himself in the realm of documentary filmmaking, garnering widespread acclaim. Although he didn’t dismiss the possibility of reprising his role in the future, stating, “Never say never,” he highlighted his occasional returns to Albert Square following his initial departure.
These sentiments echo Kemp’s previous assertions made in interviews, where he hinted at the prospect of revisiting his beloved character. Reflecting on his enduring connection to EastEnders, Kemp conveyed a sense of nostalgia, tempered by his current pursuits in diverse professional endeavors.
With each articulation, Kemp reaffirms his authenticity and resists the pressures of conforming to societal standards, embodying a steadfast commitment to self-acceptance and personal integrity.
